A Kitchen…On a Mission!

The Mission of The Bread of Life is to provide food and access to resources to all those in need in Transylvania County. No questions asked.

Help us fight hunger in Transylvania County!

Every weekday, we collect non-perishable food donations to support our community through The Bread of Life. Every item makes a difference!

Drop off at: 238 S. Caldwell St. Monday - Friday, 8:30-11:30 AM (If you can't make these times, please call to set up a time.)

Most-needed items: Meal box helpers, canned meats, peanut butter, pasta, rice, and snacks. We do not need canned green beans, corn, or peas at this time. Check the list for more details.

Please note canned goods should be dated 2024 or newer and cans with pop tops are preferred!

Thank you for helping serve our community.

The Ingredients that Make Up The Bread of Life

  • Food

The Bread of Life works with our many partners including local farms, grocery stores, bakeries, and restaurants to provide fresh, hot, nutritious meals to those who need one.

In addition, we give out fresh produce, canned goods, and other nonperishable items.

  • Volunteers

Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and be part of something extraordinary? Join us at The Bread of Life and be the change you want to see in the world. Together, we can make a lasting difference, one meal, one person at a time.

  • Food Truck

Our food truck provides meals to folks in need in other parts of the County and allows us to pick up canned goods from stores, churches, summer camps, and food drives. The people we serve are often in need of other forms of assistance. We regularly refer them to other local organizations, to help them obtain food stamps, legal assistance, emotional and conflict-resolution issues, and medical assistance.
